The decorating toolkit is split into frosting, toppings and toppers. Frostings come in swirled and smooth styles across a dozen colors, toppings include sprinkles, fruit slices, chocolate curls and edible pearls, and the topper slot holds small crowns, hearts and themed picks. Each cupcake on the tray gets decorated separately, and your picks stack in order, so frosting sits under toppings which sit under the topper. There is also a wardrobe panel with gowns, tiaras, jewelry and hairstyles that you can pull up between batches.

The unusual part is that the two halves talk to each other. A matching screen lets you coordinate the princess's outfit with her bakes, so a pastel frosting batch pairs naturally with a pastel gown, and the round wraps with a presentation view showing princess and cupcakes together, which you can save as a picture.

The reliable way to get a strong tray is to pick one frosting color family first and stick to it across all the cupcakes, varying only the toppings. Contrast reads better than matching on the topper, so a gold crown on pale frosting pops more than a same-color pick. And dress the princess last, once the cupcakes exist, because pulling a gown color from the finished tray takes one click and makes the final shot look planned.
