Young Figure Skaters: Ellie and Jenny

Two girls in practice leotards stand side by side when Young Figure Skaters: Ellie and Jenny opens, and the first decision is which one you're dressing. Tap Ellie or Jenny and the other steps aside, leaving a single skater and a row of tabs for hair, face and costume. Every change shows up instantly on her, right down to the way a bun sits against her neck.

Hair options run from a tight competition bun to a high ponytail with a ribbon woven through it. The face tab covers a light blush, a shimmer eyeshadow and a small rhinestone glued near the eye, the kind judges' scores reward in real skating. Costumes are one-piece skating dresses in different cuts, some with a sheer sleeve or a skirt panel that flares over the tights, and each one layers over a base leotard instead of replacing it.

A lot of makeover games stop at the face, but here the costume has to hold up under an ice rink spotlight, which pushes the palette toward sparkle and shine instead of anything matte. The round ends with the chosen skater posed mid-spin on the ice, the other girl left waiting for her own turn.

Try the ribbon-threaded ponytail with a sheer-sleeve dress, since the loose strands read well against the rink lighting. Keep the rhinestone placement small and close to the eye instead of scattered across the cheek, since a heavier hand there looks cluttered from a distance. Switch between Ellie and Jenny early if you're not sure of a color scheme, because the same costume can look completely different against their skin tones.
