Each stage swaps out the whole toolbar, so the brushes and palettes from the makeup station disappear once you reach hair, and hair tools disappear once you reach nails. It runs more like three short makeover games stitched into one session than a single wardrobe screen, which means you can spend real time on nail art instead of rushing past it to get to an outfit.
